An appreciation post for Jo Davies from all of The Hot Steppers.
Today, Sport RCT published a case study about The Hot Steppers. In it, they talk about how much we’ve grown in a relatively short amount of time and how the club has had a hugely positive impact on everyone involved.
As anyone who’s ever been to The Miners on a Thursday evening will tell you, this is 100 per cent true and it’s all down to one person: Jo Davies.
She won’t admit it, preferring to say it’s been a team effort, but the rest of us know that we’ve come so far, so quickly thanks to her endless patience, enthusiasm and footballing knowhow, as well as her determination to never lose sight of why the club was created in the first place: fun, fitness, friendship.
It’s rare to be part of something where the person at the top is so well liked and respected. But with the exception of a wild night at The Boar where we all drank too much Disaronno, Jo has never steered us wrong. In fact, 18 months after that balmy first evening in September 2021, none of us can recall ever having a cross word – impressive when you’ve got 30-odd brilliantly strong personalities on your books. We’re also playing some very pretty football these days too. Something else we have Jo to thank for (see endless patience comment above).
So thank you Joanne for making 80 per cent of us happier. The future’s bright, the future’s pink!*
*Or potentially blue, depending on the result of your next poll.
With thanks to Chwaraeon RhCT/ Sport RCT for all of their support. Diolch yn fawr iawn.
